Fraternal Knits

Andrew has a co-worker whose wife is 7 months along with fraternal twin boys. He asked that I make a little present to give them and this is what I came up with.

Cute little matching but opposite booties and hats!

Pattern(s): Greemy Baby Booties (on the blog) (on Ravelry)
Bellyphant (on Ravelry)

Yarn: Lion Brand Wool-Ease in Seaspray and Avocado

Needles: size 2 1/2 (3.0 mm) Knit Picks DPNs

Started: August 21, 2010
Finished: August 23, 2010

Notes: I really like using Wool-Ease, it is machine washable and dryable but has just enough wool in it to do color work fairly well. No the best ever but good enough for me. I used the elephant pattern from the bottom of a cardigan to make the hats. It is a super cute pattern and I want to make the full cardigan version sometime.

Sweet Little Purple Puppy

I am trying to make a stuffed elephant for a baby gift (blog post coming as soon as I finish it!) and Aubrey likes it a little too much. I think she thought it was for her. So, I made her a sweet little puppy to try to take her mind off the elephant.

Pattern: Victoria
Yarn: Knit Picks Bare Sock Yarn dyed by me!

Needles: size 0 (2.0 mm) Knit Picks DPNs

Started: Aug. 12, 2010
Finished: Aug. 13, 2010

Notes: This pattern is a little bit fiddly when you are doing it in sock yarn on tiny needles, but overall a fairly easy knit. It is all done with no seaming, yay! I think she turned out super cute and I have a feeling that there will be several more to come in the future.

She was so cute I couldn't resist taking several pictures. :P

Homemade Girl Scout Cookies

I found this recipe for homemade Samoa Girl Scout Cookies. They are Andrew's absolute favorites so I made up a batch.

They turned out pretty tasty. I don't know if they are worth all the effort though.

I forgot to put the holes in the middle until after I already cooked the cookies. Oops.

The same site has a bunch of other homemade Girl Scout cookie recipes. I think I am going to make the Thin Mints next. Yum!

A shawl for Willow

My little sister, Willow is getting married in a month, so I made her a pretty shawl to wear. I finished it last weekend in time for her bridal shower.

Pattern: Seascape Stole
Yarn: Knit Picks Lace dyed by me!

Needles: size 2 1/2 (3.0 mm) Knit Picks circulars

Started: May 4, 2010
Finished: July 30, 2010

Notes: I accidentally used too small of needles so it blocked out narrower than expected. I added an extra repeat to compensate for length. Also it really only took me about 2 1/2 weeks worth of knitting. I just kept putting it down for other projects.

(Artsy detail shot, because I am a giant dork like that)

I even attemped to make a pretty box to package it in.
